I recently had the privilege of attending the News9 Global Summit Germany Edition 2025 in Stuttgart (9–10 October 2025) as a delegate, and it was an extraordinary experience. The summit was hosted by TV9 Network under the theme “Democracy | Demography | Development: The India-Germany Connect”, marking 25 years of strategic partnership between India and Germany.

Why this summit mattered

  • It brought together top-level leaders from politics, industry, science and culture to explore how India and Germany can deepen collaboration in trade, technology, sustainable development and innovation.

  • Held at the ‎MHP Arena in Stuttgart, the event signified how Germany’s engineering and innovation ecosystem can align with India’s scale, dynamism and demographic strength.

  • Key issues addressed included free trade agreements, green mobility, industrial transition, digitisation and talent mobility — all of which are crucial for the “next 25 years” of bilateral cooperation.

My experience & take-aways

As someone representing both the scientific community and the humanitarian sector (through my work with social empowerment and women’s literacy), attending this summit offered unique vantage points:

  • I had the opportunity to engage with prominent Indian leaders such as Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ashwini Vaishnaw, as well as senior German policymakers like Florian Hassler (State Secretary for Political Coordination, Europe & International Affairs) and other ministers of Baden-Württemberg. Their commitment to India-Germany collaboration was clear and deeply inspiring.

  • A key remark from my discussion with Scindia sahib revolved around how India’s science & space sector (a domain I am deeply involved in) must not only serve national milestones but become globally visible by partnering with European and German research ecosystems.

  • From the German side, conversations emphasised precision engineering, vocational skills exchange, academic partnerships and joint innovation corridors. One German minister underscored: “Germany contributes engineering excellence; India brings youthful energy and world-class digital infrastructure.”

  • On a personal level, this summit reinforced that my role as a research scientist, author and social activist is not confined to labs or campaigns — it intersects global diplomacy, technology collaboration and social impact. The forum underscored that change is multi-dimensional: from policy and business to grassroots empowerment.

  • I left the event with a renewed resolve: to map pathways whereby my NGO work (women’s empowerment, literacy, malnutrition) can link with technology and innovation partnerships emerging from India-Germany discussions. For example, how digital skills or AI-augmented education practices developed in Germany can be adapted in Indian rural contexts.

What this means moving forward

  • For me personally: Attending the summit has opened doors to new networks and given fresh impetus to my vision of blending science, activism and global public service. I aim to bring back insights and collaborations to apply in India—especially in states where my foundation works.

  • For India & Germany: This summit reaffirmed that our partnership is evolving beyond trade. It is increasingly about shared values, collective innovation and co-creating solutions for a multipolar world. Focus areas like green hydrogen, smart mobility, defence manufacturing, AI, and talent mobility were explicitly highlighted.

Concluding thought

Being part of the News9 Global Summit in Stuttgart was more than attending an event—it was stepping into a space where global ambition meets local impact. I am grateful for the dialogues, the connections and the insights. Now, the real work begins: translating what was shared on stage into actions on the ground.
